Materials Testing and Special Inspection (MTSI)

Condor provides a wide range of geotechnical, engineering, environmental, and construction quality control services for the design/build of schools, hospitals, multi-story structures, roadways, bridges, industrial plants and facilities, office buildings, community development, and all types of public infrastructure for nearly 40 years. Projects range from modernizations to new facilities, with construction costs from 1 million to 100 million plus. Because of our breadth of services, we understand the vital role that sound geotechnical engineering, materials testing and special inspection services play in the successful design and construction of a project.

To ensure compliance with project requirements, Condor uses qualified DSA, ICC, AWS, ACI, CBC, ANST, and NICET certified technicians and California registered professional civil and geotechnical engineers. Condor understands that the scope of services for prospective projects may involve all special inspections and laboratory services required to meet the California Building Code and the requirements of local city and county jurisdictions. Critical elements of a project’s inspection and testing program will include:

  • Earthwork monitoring and compaction testing
  • Shotcrete inspection and testing
  • Rebar tagging and tensile testing
  • Reinforcing steel placement inspection
  • Concrete placement inspection
  • Concrete, grout, and mortar compressive strength testing
  • Shop and field welding inspection
  • Masonry inspection and testing
  • High-strength bolt testing
  • Epoxy and expansion anchor inspection and testing
  • Fire proofing inspection and testing
  • Other miscellaneous special inspections and testing services

Our laboratory is accepted and approved by The American Association of State Highway and Transportation (AASHTO), and the Division of the State Architect (DSA), Structural Safety Section, as qualified to perform geotechnical and construction materials testing services for government facilities, public schools and hospitals. Our active DSA Laboratory Evaluation Acceptance (LEA) number is 174. Condor’s material testing laboratory is centrally located in Stockton, California. Condor’s procedures, equipment, and personnel qualifications conform to the requirements outlined in ASTM E-329. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) licenses the storage and use of Condor’s nuclear density testing (NDT) gauges, and certifies our NDT technicians. All field and laboratory testing equipment is calibrated on an annual or more frequent basis by an outside agency as part of our internal quality assurance. Condor’s laboratory capabilities will provide a responsive and cost-efficient service. Condor takes pride in the rapid response time to our clients’ local needs.
